Consent to Collection and Use of Personal Information (The AsiaTEFL)
The AsiaTEFL (hereafter referred to as “the Association”) places great importance on protecting your personal information and complies with the Personal Information Protection Act. Through this Privacy Policy, the Association informs you how your information is used and the measures taken to protect it.
- 1. Items of Personal Information Processed The Association collects only the minimum personal information necessary for journal publication and academic exchange. Optional items may be left blank without restricting access to basic services.
- Required items (at membership registration): ID, password, full name, institution name, affiliation, workplace address, workplace phone number, mobile phone number, email
- Optional items: date of birth, gender, educational background, career, home address, home phone number
- 2. Purpose of Processing Personal Information The collected personal information will be used only for the following purposes. If purposes change, prior consent will be obtained.
- Academic exchange, publication of journals, and related activities
- 3. Retention and Disposal of Personal Information Collected personal information will be immediately destroyed when the purpose of collection has been achieved.
- When a member withdraws membership or requests deletion, information will be permanently destroyed and cannot be recovered.
- 4. Disposal of Personal Information Collected personal information will be immediately destroyed when the purpose of collection has been achieved.

- Printed documents: Shredded or incinerated
- 5. Rights of Members and Legal Guardians When collecting personal information from children under the age of 14, the consent of their legal guardian is required. Only minimal information (name and contact details) of the guardian is collected. The guardian may request to view, correct, or delete the child’s information.
- 6. Provision of Personal Information The Association does not provide members’ personal information to third parties except in the following cases:
- Electronic files: Deleted using technical methods to prevent recovery
- Printed documents: Shredded or incinerated
- 7. Entrustment of Personal Information The Association does not entrust members’ personal information to external companies without prior consent. If entrustment becomes necessary, members will be notified and consent will be obtained.
- 8. Rights and Duties of Members Members may withdraw their consent to the collection, use, and provision of their personal information at any time. They may also request to view, correct, restrict processing, or delete their information by contacting the Privacy Officer by mail, phone, or fax. The Association will promptly take necessary action unless restricted by law.
